A Guide to Choosing the Right PTR Baler

  • A Guide to Choosing the Right PTR Baler

The basic job of a baler is to compact your recyclable materials into a manageable form. In order to make the most appropriate choice consider the following: materials, space, size and budget. With so many models to choose from, selecting the best PTR baler for your business can be tricky. We’re here to help make the process easier! Check out this comprehensive guide to choosing a baler that will suit your company’s unique needs.

    MATERIALS
If your organization produces recyclable waste (any most all do to some extent), then you need a recycling baler. Knowing the type of recyclable waste you’re dealing with is key in determining the baler you’ll need.

All PTR Vertical Downstroke Balers seamlessly bale cardboard, plastic P.E.T. bottles, aluminum cans, magazines, office paper, newsprint, paper cartons, e-waste, textiles and clothing. But only a few heavy-duty models can additionally handle foam and rugs, tires, white goods (appliances) and non-ferrous metals. For example, our 500HD and 7200HD models are the perfect choice if you operate a larger warehouse, recycling center, hotel, supermarket, retail chain, mall or hospital, that sees a lot of that type of material.

    SPACE
Space is another factor that comes into play when choosing your PTR baler model. If you have plenty of warehouse floor space as well as plenty of height, you won’t have to worry about this too much. Conversely, if you have a condensed amount of space and low ceiling height, you’ll want to consider a model such as our 2318, which is a low-profile, smaller baler, ideal for limited ceiling height.

Since our balers are Vertical, they take up much less space than many horizontal baler models. You will want to also keep in mind that you’ll need some extra space for when the bale is ejected, as well as an area where they can then be transported out.

    SIZE
The size of your baler should be based on the amount you’ll be putting it to work. Those who will only produce a few bales each week most likely won’t have a need for one of our larger balers, and visa versa.

Our Vertical Balers range in size from 24″ to 72″, and can accommodate balers anywhere from 100 lbs to 1800 lbs.

    BUDGET
Of course, budget is an important factor when choosing a baler. PTR respects that each company has it’s own budget. You’ll work with an expert customer representative that will be able to help match you with a baler that will suit your needs and stay within your budget.

In addition to our line of new Vertical Balers, PTR also proudly offers our Rebuild Program of balers. This is a great way for those working with limited budgets to get a like-new piece of certified equipment for the most economical price out there. These machines have undergone a thorough 52 pint inspection process and a complete reconditioning.
