Update on Puerto Rico Relief Efforts
Hurricane Maria made direct landfall on Puerto Rico on September 20th, bringing down feet of torrential rain. It devastated the island and the 3.4 million US citizens who live there. When Maria hit, 60,000 people were already without power following Hurricane Irma, exacerbating the dire conditions that much more.
Maria was the strongest storm to hit Puerto Rico in 80 years. Now, nearly a month later, much of the island is still without electricity. Clean drinking water and food is scarce. Cell service is down, so many people in the states have not been able to speak to their family and friends on the island for weeks.
PTR representatives, Carlos Gonzalez and Enrique Diaz, have been delivering food and water to the rural areas of Puerto Rico. The food is being prepared and distributed from a local arena. The duo have teamed up with other companies in the area to help with relief efforts as well. Currently, there are about 20,000 people in shelters, and even more are living in the rural areas without any shelter at all.
PTR’s CEO Mike Savage offered the following message:“I want to thank Carlos Gonzalez and Enrique Diaz for their hard work and sacrifice in traveling to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Croix over the last few weeks helping our customers in those ravaged islands get back on their feet. They have been away from their families doing so much great work on behalf of PTR and we are all very grateful. They went the extra mile over the last two weekends and delivered water and food to towns that are more remote and in dire need of help…Thank you, Carlos and Enrique, for making us so proud!”
PTR Baler & Company is proud to have people like Carlos Gonzalez and Enrique Diaz on our team. We thank them tremendously for all of their efforts. If you are interested in learning ways you can help with Puerto Rico relief, visit one of the sites listed below.

PTR’s CEO Joins Forces with Home Depot Foundation in West Virginia
Last week, PTR’s CEO Mike Savage joined forces with The Home Depot Foundation in West Virginia for their ‘Building Services and Store Operations Foundation’ fundraising event. This successful endeavor raised an incredible $3.8 million for the foundation.
The Home Depot Foundation works to improve the lives of our country’s veterans and their families, as well as to provide support and aid to cities hit by natural disasters. The foundation’s ‘Celebration of Service’ season takes place annually from September 7th through Veteran’s Day. Helping American communities, and the citizens who have sacrificed so much to protect us, is something PTR as a company is extremely passionate about.

Torrential rains resulted in horrific damage and destroyed over 1,200 homes. Now, residents of these newly built homes will be able to move in and start anew.
The Home Depot Foundation is a organization consisting of 400,000 associate volunteers. It was created to help our honored veterans, and those affected by flooding, hurricanes and other natural disasters. Volunteers build homes, install ramps or do other household or facility improvements.
PTR is proud to have taken part is such a wonderful event and work with this amazing organization. Since 2011, with the support of The Home Depot Foundation has been able to:

PTR’s Plant City Facility Firing On All Cylinders
Units shipping out from Plant City, FL.
PTR Baler & Compactor opened a new manufacturing facility in Plant City Florida in July of 2016. Since then, we’ve surpassed many of our expectations and goals. Deciding where to open a new facility was a yearlong search, and Plant City turned out to be a winning choice. It was the ideal location to be able to better serve PTR’s growing customer base in the Southeast region.
Now, less than one year after opening it’s doors, the Plant City, Florida facility is firing on all cylinders. We’re manufacturing and distributing our units non-stop. The demand for our high quality, durable balers and compactors has been increasing, so one of the primary goals of the new facility was to expand our capacity. We’re fully committed to providing the best baler and compactor on the market and our success is a testament to that. We’re proud to lead the industry in waste and recycling equipment and continually focus on design and development. Our customer service, repair and maintenance plan is unparalleled in the industry.
PTR is drawn to working with partners that exhibit our same core values. First and foremost, producing high quality products and focusing on customer service and satisfaction. As part of the process for choosing the new location, we looked at other industry leaders in the area. There were several that stood out, including Publix Supermarket. Publix, which is headquartered in Plant City, is the perfect example of the type of business that we like to work with.
Our commitment to the Plant City community during this initial year is just as strong as it is at the headquarters in Philadelphia. Over time, as we set down our roots, it will only continue to grow. Job creation and keeping American manufacturing viable is something we at PTR are laser-focused on. The new facility has provided many jobs to the Plant City area. We believe job creation is key to improving the local economy and the overall welfare of the community. Our Plant City location has allowed us to continue those traditions.
Here’s an example of what’s going on at the Plant City location. We’re manufacturing units like the TP2000SP by the truck load. The TP2000SP is one of our most popular models of stationary compactors. It’s an excellent dry waste compactor, perfect for cardboard and mixed paper waste. One of the primary focuses of our engineers while designing this model was longevity. We wanted to produce a stationary compactor that would be able to hold up to the high volume of markets like hotels, manufacturing centers, hospitals, home centers, recycling centers and retailers. The TP2000SP is equipped with top quality electrical and hydraulic components.
Like all of PTR’s products, this model is extremely durable, built using heavy-duty structural steel and welded by AWS certified welders. The TP2000SP model is also simple to use with 3 button controls. It’s safe, fast and efficient, with an average cycle time of just 65 seconds. This keeps your company’s waste management processes moving along smoothly.
