The PTR Pre-Crusher Series
The Pre-Crusher Series of Stationary Compactors were designed to destroy product prior to compacting. This machine has a heavy duty guillotine door that is used by the ram as a wall to compact against before cycling again into the container.
Our pre-crushers are ideally designed to handle bulky items, including steel drums, barrels, wood pallets, wood crates and other difficult industrial waste products. The primary benefit of pre-crushing prior to compacting is that you’ll reduce overall volume. This equates to fewer trips to the landfill and therefore results in significant cost savings!
Key Features:
- Long-lasting performance and durablity
- Built using heavy duty structural steel
- 20′ Sealtite
- Welded by AWS Certified Technicians
- 3 button controls: On/Off Key Switch, Mushroom Stop, Start Button
The pre-crusher series is great for distribution centers, large appliance and automotive manufacturers & many more.

Publix Service Seminar & Training at PTR’s Plant City Facility.
On Tuesday, June 18th, PTR Baler and Compactor held a service seminar with Publix to train their facilities staff on PTR’s machinery. Publix, recognized as one of Fortune’s most admired companies since 1994, has over 1,000 stores that utilize PTR equipment.

As the largest employee-owned grocery chain in the United States, Publix plans to carryout this program to additional Publix regions with the aid of PTR. The seminar emphasized the two companies coming together to strengthen and further their partnership. Publix and PTR have carried out business together for over twenty-five years and continue to strive in the building of their relationship.

Are You Recycling Right?
Being eco-conscious in our home lives is just as important as it is in business. There are many small things we can all do to help make a big difference. Recycling is definitely one of those things and, hopefully, you’re already doing it. However, there’s likely many items that you’ve been throwing into the recycling bin (with good intentions) that just aren’t recyclable. This can cause issues at the plant and create unsafe environment for employees.
So, do you think you’re recycling right? We used a guide from Waste Management to create this list of what you CAN and CAN’T recycle. You might be surprised to see what made the list!
Recycle:
- Cardboard
- Magazines
- Newspapers
- Paper
- Aluminum & Steel Cans
- Plastic Bottles
- Glass (*Rules on glass recycling vary, check with your local recycling program first)
- Milk Cartons
- Juice Boxes
- Pizza Boxes (*unless they are very greasy, in which case – trash it)
Remember: Rinse items that contained food or liquid as well as possible.
Trash:
- Cups with plastic or wax coatings (*many coffee cups have this)
- Polystyrene foam (*some egg cartons)
- Frozen Food boxes
- Plastic to-go containers
- Food
- Wire
- Metal Waste
- Clothing
- Medical Waste
- Holiday Lights
- Garden Hose
- Mixed Material Items (*ex: plastic top + metal bottom = most likely non recyclable)
- Plastic Bags, Freeze Bags, or plastic Wrapping (*see below for details)
While you can’t throw it in your recycling bin, many retailers and grocery stores, such as Target and Wegmans, offer receptacles specifically to collect & recycle plastic bags. To find a location by you, put your zip code in the search engine on this site: Find a Drop Off Location.
It’s so important to be thoughtful of everything we recycle. To learn more, visit Waste Managements complete recycling guide here.

Vertical Baler 101
Balers allow you to transform your cardboard, plastic P.E.T. bottles, aluminum cans and siding into valuable commodities for your organization. Recycling markets purchase these bales, turning what once was waste into a revenue stream. Your baler will become a money-saving tool for your company, as your expenses for waste removal should decrease considerably. Landfills taxes and fees continue to rise each year, so you’ll be glad you have your recycling baler to help offset costs.
You’ll also save critical floor space and keep it free from dangerous debris and clutter. When cardboard and other materials pile up around a warehouse, they create a hazardous environment for employees. Clutter and waste can also lead to unwanted pests and vermin in your warehouse. You’ll also save time and hours of labor because employees won’t have to crush and flatten cardboard boxes themselves,
Another benefit you can feel great about is the positive environmental impact. Rather than sending materials like cardboard, plastic, aluminum, textiles and more off to the landfill, you’re recycling it. The helps show your company is dedicated to caring for the environment.
We offer a variety of fully U.L. approved baler models ranging in size from 24” to 72”. They’re custom tailored to best fit your application. The 1800HD & 3600HDLP are low-profile balers that are ideal for applications with limited space and ceiling height. The 3400HD is our most popular high-density baler, being the ideal size for most supermarkets, retail chains, department stores and more. The 8000HD is our largest and most powerful and vertical baler, great for metal scrap recycling as well as dense polystyrene bales. Bale weights will range in size depending on the model of the baler used. To see our full line of baler models, click here.
It’s important to train staff to properly and safely handle the baler. You’ll want to ensure that only select employees, over the age of 18, are well trained to use the equipment. Ensure that all warning stickers and labels are clearly visible. Staff should also be extremely careful when transporting heavy bales.
A responsible employee should be appointed to ensure all daily maintenance and regular preventative maintenance is being scheduled. To see more of our daily baler maintenance tips, click here or to see our preventative maintenance programs, click here.
PTR Balers save your organization money, time and space, and help your business meet recycling requirements and sustainability goals. Contact PTR today to learn more!
